Role in the Lloyd's Register Group
Iain is responsible for defining Oil & Gas strategy and
ensuring the business plans for each business centre will deliver
the strategic objectives on a global basis. His role is to ensure
active worldwide business development and that key customer service
management is implemented. The Oil & Gas Director is also
charged with making sure we have the right service portfolio that
enables the business stream to deliver on the objectives of Lloyd's
Register. In addition commercial, technical and marketing policy
and practices are key elements in the duties of the Oil & Gas
Director that support the delivery of the Oil & Gas
strategy.
CV
Iain joined Lloyd's Register in November 2007. Prior to that he
worked at DNV for 16 years and over the past five years Iain was
based in Oslo and was a member of DNV's Executive Board. Positions
Iain held at DNV include: General Manager for their Aberdeen
operations; Chief Operating Officer for their Oil & Gas
business and then later DNV Consulting; and Director of Business
Development for DNV Energy.
He graduated from the University of London in 1976 with an
honours degree in Human Physiology and then moved to Aberdeen and
completed a PhD in Thermodynamics. He then joined the International
Biomedical Expedition to Antarctica to study the long term effects
on human performance in extreme conditions.
Following this expedition Ian joined the Robert Gordon Institute
of Technology in 1980 and led the Research and Development activity
of the Offshore Survival Centre. During this time he also completed
an MBA. In 1989 he moved to Technica who were subsequently acquired
by DNV.
Personal
Iain is married with three children. His outside interest
include cycling, skiing, golf and training in the
gym.
