Role in the Lloyd's Register Group
John is responsible to the Finance and Operations Director for
the implementation of all business plans in the Americas and for
providing effective and efficient cross-business services. He
supports the development of best practice in the delivery of
services to clients and in the provision of support services to our
Businesses. He works to continuously improve the culture of safety
and quality across the region against annually agreed targets and
ensures compliance with Group governance requirements and local
legislation. He works with our Businesses to ensure the provision
of adequate resources and the maintenance of employee competency
through training and development and ensures that succession plans
are in place for key positions. He works to continually enhance the
profile of the Lloyd's Register Group in the Region.
CV
John joined our organisation as the President of Lloyd's
Register Capstone in an acquisition that took place in 2005. He
began his current role in July 2007.
Previous employment
Prior to starting Capstone, John worked for DNV in Houston for five
years as the manager of the process industry business. He started
his professional career working for a multinational chemical
company in a series of positions ending as the corporate manager of
engineering services.
Qualifications
John graduated from the University of Illinois with a Masters
Degree in Materials Engineering (1971) following a Bachelors Degree
in Mechanical Engineering (1969). He is a member of the American
Society of Mechanical Engineers and sits on the Board of Directors
of the Materials Technology Institute. He has authored numerous
books and papers on a variety of technical subjects.
Personal
John is married with two children and one grandson. He and his wife
enjoy travelling and teaching a Bible class at their church. He
also enjoys woodworking and riding a bicycle.
