Role in the Lloyd's Register Group
John is responsible to the Finance and Operations Director for
the implementation of all business plans in the Asia region and for
providing effective and efficient cross-business services. He
supports the development of best practice in the delivery of
services to clients and in the provision of support services to our
Businesses. He works to continuously improve the culture of safety
and quality across the region against annually agreed targets and
ensures compliance with Group governance requirements and local
legislation. He works with our Businesses to ensure the provision
of adequate resources and the maintenance of employee competency
through training and development and ensures that succession plans
are in place for key positions. He works to continually enhance the
profile of the Lloyd's Register Group in the Region.
CV
John joined Lloyd's Register in 1983 in the Machinery Plan
Approval Department and then progressed through Advanced
Engineering Services and the Chief Engineer Surveyors Department to
head up the Safety Technology Group in Croydon in 1990. He became
Country Manager for Canada in 1995, then Group Regional Manager for
the Americas in 1998 and Regional Director for Asia in 2001. Prior
to joining Lloyd's Register John trained with and then worked for
NEI WH Allen.
Qualifications
John graduated from Bristol
University in 1977 with an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering
and is a Chartered Engineer. He is a member of the Institution of
Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine
Engineering Science and Technology.
Personal
John is married with four
children, enjoys walking, jazz and classical music. He is an elder
at Ambassador International Church in Hong
Kong.
