Role in the Lloyd's Register Group
Ton is responsible for defining the Asset Management strategy
for the external markets, for example chemicals, power generation,
mining, ports & logistics and utilities, and ensuring that the
area business plans will achieve the strategic objectives globalyl.
His role is to oversee worldwide business development, the
development of products and the definition of commercial, technical
and marketing policy, giving direction for global capability and
performance. He is also responsible for product definition and
development of the Asset Management services which are used across
the group, for example risk and time-based inspection and risk
services.
CV
Ton joined Lloyd's Register in 1989 as an LRQA Surveyor in the
Netherlands. For the next three years he undertook consultancy and
assessment work for the rapidly growing client base in Western
Europe. In 1992 he took over the responsibility for the LRQA
activities in the Netherlands and he guided LRQA into new areas of
business.
In 2000 he became the West European Area manager and later that
year he took over the responsibility for Stoomwezen B.V.
Restructured the business and stayed in charge until 2006, at which
point he was appointed as the Industry Manager for EMEA.
In April 2007 Ton became responsible for the Asset Management
business globally.
Previous employment
Ton's first appointment was with a technical gas company "Hoek
Loos" (Rotterdam) in the Netherlands, as a researcher in the area
of (liquified) gases. He became a project manager and subsequently
the QA manager in the mid 1980's.
Qualifications
Born in Venlo in the
Netherlands on the border with Germany he took his technical
education at the ( H.T.S.) in Heerlen and graduated in mechanical
engineering, specialised in production engineering (BSc).
Personal
Ton is married with three children and enjoys literature, art,
classical music, walking, mounteneering, sailing and
scubadiving.
