Compliance and Engineering Services Department
We are seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to
provide leadership in this field and to carry out design appraisal
work, offshore surveillance and consultancy services for offshore
foundations and moorings/anchors of all types.
The successful applicant will report to the Manager Structures and
Pipelines Engineering in Aberdeen but may be located in either
Aberdeen or London.
The main responsibilities are:
• technical authority for geotechnics
• provide leadership in the area of geotechnics and further develop
Lloyd's Register Rules in this area
• participate in industry international and national
committees
• mentor and train staff
• verify design compliance with relevant codes and standards,
primarily API RP 2A, Norwegian codes and Lloyd's Register
Rules
• undertake calculations for all types of foundations including
piled, gravity, suction footings, mooring anchorages and
pipelines
• provide surveillance during offshore site investigation or
foundation installation
• keep abreast of developments in offshore geotechnics.
Our requirements
We are looking for a candidate who is a recognised expert in
geotechnical engineering with relevant, have chartered status with
a proven in-depth track record of relevant experience within the
oil and gas industry.
There will also be a requirement to be prepared to spend periods
on site or offshore for foundation installation inspection both in
the UK and overseas and also to work in client or designers'
offices for temporary periods. The appointee will need to meet the
UKOOA medical requirements.
You will need good communication skills, including technical
report writing, the ability to work to tight deadlines and
adaptability.
