LRQA Portugal's entry into CSR achieves a double first
Celbi - Celulose Beira Idustrial, S.A. - extended their existing
EMAS statement into an annual sustainability report and became LRQA
Portugal's first CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) verification
contract. The double first came from the audit criteria required by
this contract. Celbi commissioned LRQA to independently assure its
Sustainability Report 2006 against the requirements of GRI (Global
Reporting Initiative) and as such became the first of LRQA's global
clients to use the G3 version of GRI.
Although only a limited assurance was conducted the client
appreciated our professionalism and rigorous approach to
verification. LRQA Portugal was supported by Deborah Evans (MSBS)
who provided the expertise for assuring that Celbi's report deals
with stakeholders' material issues and puts Celbi's sustainability
impact and performance in context.
Celbi joins a growing group of companies disclosing their CSR /
sustainability performance using GRI G3, launched October 2006. The
sustainability report will be launched formally in the next few
weeks.
