LRQA and Bath University worked together to deliver top
environmental management course.
In an agreement between the University of Bath and Lloyd's Register
Quality Assurance (LRQA), LRQA will promote the distance-learning
course to its international workforce and clients.
Successful completion of the course leads to automatic Associate
Membership of the internationally recognised Institute for
Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA) - entitling
successful candidates to use the designatory letters 'AIEMA'.
The part-time course - which forms part of the University's Masters
and Diploma level qualifications - provides an essential
introduction to environmental management systems for professionals
working in the field.
"The environment and especially energy use are major issues
confronting organisations on a daily basis," said Course Manager Dr
David Hicks from the University's Department of Chemical
Engineering.
"Organisations increasingly have to deal with tightening
environmental legislation and growing public concern.
"Well-trained environmental managers are key to ensuring that
organisations are equipped to deal with this important area.
"The course helps them gain a professionally-recognised
qualification and is ideal for developing a firm understanding of
the principles and applications of the many management tools
available to them."
Robert Taylor, Head of Global Training with LRQA stated: "All of
our environmental management systems assessors are required to be
qualified to IEMA associate level. The University of Bath
Environmental Management Course offers LRQA a global approach that
works at both a local and a global level."
Already more than 80 LRQA employees have taken the course, which
can be extended to Masters or Diploma level with further
study.
The course has run since 1995, in which time it has been taken by
more than 650 people, 73 of whom have gone on to complete the
MSc.
