Clean Development Mechanism Projects
Project Title
Gomti Biotech Plant in Uttarakhand, India
Country
India
Project description
The purpose of the project is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
and to supply a nationally-sourced and more sustainable fuel to the
Indian market.
The project consists of the production and sale of biodiesel
produced from waste oil and other waste products created in the
vegetable oil production process. It is located in Haldwani,
Uttarakhand State, India. The project has the capacity to produce
40 tons (about 40,000 liters) of biodiesel per day, or
approximately 10,000 tons per year. Actual production is expected
to be slightly less, due to regular maintenance as well as
inevitable delays in supplies, mechanical problems, etc.
The biodiesel will be used in transportation applications.
The construction for the project activity was June 2006 and
completed in Jan 2008. The starting date of the first crediting
period is the date of registration or 1st July 2008, whichever is
earlier.
The project uses an approved baseline and monitoring methodology
AM0047, version 02, and falls under sectoral scope 1 (Energy
Industries renewable/non-renewable sources) and sectoral scope 5,
Chemical Industries.
The reduction is estimated to be 30,000 tons of CO2e per year. The
project is normal scale and applies a 7-year renewal crediting
period. The total reductions expected over the first crediting
period is 210,000 tons of CO2e.
