Clean Development Mechanism Projects
Project Title
Methane Recovery by Bio-digestion of Animal Waste from
Slaughterhouse in Ulu
Country
Malaysia
Project description
The project involve avoidance of methane generation at landfill
by treatment of solid waste from slaughter house by anaerobic
digestion. Biogas generated is used to produce electricity and
thermal energy and displace the in-house fossil fuel consumption.
Estimated maximum GHG emission reduction by destruction of methane
is 6,101 tCO2 (maximum) and minimum 1,934 tCO2. The capacity of
electricity generator is 0.2MW. Estimated average annual emission
reductions is 4,660.1tCO2.
AM0025 ver 10- Avoided emissions from organic waste through
alternative waste treatment processes approved methodology is
used.
First crediting period is 10 years from January 2009.

Under A4.4, the total ERs and the annual average ERs are the
same?
On pg 16, DOCj for food waste should be 0.15.
On pg 21, the project emissions for start up fuel was calculated 24
hrs x 365 days. This is surprising as the operating days for the
factory are only 300 days and I presume it is not needed to start
up the system every hour?
On pg 21, the calculation of PE from flaring: should use the
relevant tool? Is it true that the animal waste are transported 53
km to Jeram Landfill? If wastewater is to be blended to the solid
waste, should the content of the wastewater be considered? If
digested waste is to be entered into open lagoon after biogas
system, project emissions need to be considered?
