Clean Development Mechanism Projects
Project Title
Methane Recovery by Bio-digestion of Animal Waste from
Slaughterhouse in Ulu Selangor Malaysia
Country
Malaysia
Project description
The project involves
avoidance of
methane generation at landfill by treatment of solid waste from
slaughter house by anaerobic digestion. Biogas generated is used to
produce electricity and thermal energy and displace the in-house
fossil fuel consumption. Estimated maximum GHG emission reduction
by destruction of methane is 9,128tCO2 (maximum) and minimum 2,255
tCO2. The capacity of power generator is 0.5MW. Estimated average
annual emission reductions is 7,139tCO2.
This is a small scale CDM
project. AMS I D version 12 'Grid connected renewable electricity
generation' and AMS
IIIG version 4 'Landfill methane recovery' is
used.

Since this project involved treatment of animal waste (solid and
blood), is pasteurisation or disinfection of the wastewater before
discharge required?

Is the PDD used for validation. The PDD is not in the approved
format. There are a number of comments inserted in a number of
pages. . Such comments confuses the reviewer as to what is to be
read and whether to rear what noted as "deleted", etc.. The
inserted comments are also at sections like base line Information -
annx 3. I think this 1st such a PDD I have seen.
