Clean Development Mechanism Projects
Project Title
Multi Nitro Indonesia Nitrous Oxide Abatement Project
Country
Indonesia
Project description
The project activity encompasses the catalytic destruction of
nitrous oxide (N2O) using a secondary treatment process. Under
normal operating conditions, the plant manufactures nitric acid
from ammonia and air.
The project activity will involve the insertion of a platinum group
metal secondary catalyst immediately below the primary catalyst
within a high pressure reaction chamber.
As long as the secondary catalyst is within the reaction chamber
where temperatures are in the region of 800 - 1000°C, it will cause
the breakdown of N2O to nitrogen and oxygen without any further
energy inputs.
The applied methodology is AM0051 / Version 01 "Secondary Catalytic
N2O Destruction in Nitric Acid Plants".
The project is a normal scale CDM project activity.
Crediting period is 7 years renewable and expected to start from
01/10/2007.
Estimated annual average emission reduction is 41,432 t-CO2.
