Project description
The purpose of the project activity is to recover and utilize
the biogas emitted from the existing wastewater treatment
facilities as fuel to generate electricity displacing part of power
purchased from North West Power Grid (NWPG), thus reducing methane
emissions in the wastewater treatment and simultaneously avoiding
CO2 emissions from the business-as-usual scenario electricity
generation of those fossil fuel-fired power plants connected into
NWPG.
The total installed capacity of the proposed project is 1.5MW
(3*0.5 MW), and the related biogas collection system will also be
installed including pipelines, gas holder and a desulphurization
tower. The emission reduction by avoiding direct methane emission
is 40,472 tCO2e annually. The estimated to-bedelivered electricity
power is 7,020 MWh and the corresponding emission reduction is
5,966 tCO2e annually. So the total annual emission reduction of the
project is 46,437 tCO2e during a fixed 10-year crediting
period.
It is a small scale project and applied public availability again
for methdology AMS-III H "Methane Recovery in Waste Water
Treatment" upgrading to version 09 and AMS-I D "Grid connected
renewable electricity generation" upgrading to version 13.
Fixed crediting period is 10 years and expected starting date is
01/09/2008
