Clean Development Mechanism Projects
Project Title
Xinjiang Kaiduhe River Chahan Wusu Hydropower Project
Country
China
Project description
The project involves the construction and operation of a 309 MW
hydropower plant consists of a water-retaining rock dam, a water
release structure, a water intake system, a 309 MW (103MW×3)
powerhouse, 3 main transformers and two sets of 220 kV transmission
lines. The proposed project will generate an annual output of
1,080,000 MWh and provide on-grid power supply of 1,037,124 MWh per
annum that will be connected to Northwest China Power Grid (NWPG)
finally.
Thermal power is the dominated power sources of NWPG. The proposed
project is a non-GHG emitting technology, which will reduce CO2
emissions by avoiding the operation of existing thermal power
plants and its further expansion in Northwest China Power Grid.
It's estimated that the proposed project will achieve GHG emission
reductions of 881,351 tCO2t per annum.
Renewable crediting period of 7 years first crediting period is
chosen and expected starting date is 01/12/2008.
The applied methodology is Approved consolidated baseline and
monitoring methodology ACM0002: "Consolidated baseline methodology
for grid-connected electricity generation from renewable sources"
(ACM0002/Version 07, Sectoral Scope 01, EB36); Tool to calculate
the emission factor for an electricity system (Version 01) and Tool
for the demonstration and assessment of additionality (Version
04).
