Risk based maintenance
Lloyd's Register offers an optimised fourth generation risk
based maintenance tool, KBAITM (Knowledge Based Asset
IntegrityTM), through its subsidiary company KBM Ltd.
The tool has been successfully deployed in the property and
highways sectors - KBM is now offering its expertise to the rail
sector.
How we can help
Every business has assets. Some of them are critical to safety,
some to service or production. Others may be necessary, but less
critical to the business. Traditionally all assets, of a type, are
maintained in a similar fashion, usually under a time-based regime.
By analysing the criticality and likelihood of failure we are able
to suggest alternative maintenance strategies, based on the risk to
the business.
What are the benefits?
With KBAI
TM, benefit is measured as a reduction in risk
to your operation. By analysing the business criticality as well as
the likelihood of failure, maintenance resource can be targeted
most effectively.
Recent projects
- Royal Mail: Implementation of KBAITM to the lifts
in sorting offices has resulted in a tangible £300k per year
reduction in maintenance costs and an additional estimated £3m
reduction in associated operational costs.
- CWSP Lighting: Carillion-WSP manage Area 12 for the UK Highways
Agency. Using KBAITM to optimise the maintenance and
bulb-replacement regimes on the east side of the M62, associated
trunk roads and other motorways has produced an estimated 39%
reduction in bulb changes (over 5 years) and 20% per year reduction
in planned maintenance.
