Gas Industry Registration Scheme (GIRS)
Lloyd's Register operate, on behalf of the UK Gas Transporters,
the new Gas Industry Registration Scheme.
Under the scheme, Lloyd's Register perform technical assessments
of Utility Infrastructure Providers (UIPs), who elect to be
assessed for accreditation, for work associated with the
construction of new gas infrastructure operating up to 7 barg
pressure, in the following scopes:
- Design
- Construction/Commissioning/Connections (Routine) [CCCR]
- Project Management
- Audit
- Connections (Non Routine, Basic) [CNRB]
Accreditation under the scheme will provide the UIP with the
following benefits:
- standardised set of requirements
- single point of contact
- accreditation recognised by all UK Gas Transporters
- the Accreditation Mark, assigned to registered UIPs, will
represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety
standard.
