Classification
As a classification society, Lloyd's Register is an essential
link in the overall safety chain of the marine industry.
Developed as a result of extensive research and experience in the
maritime industry,
our
Rules and Regulations set standards for the
design, construction and ongoing maintenance of ships. Our
classification services are designed to ensure that your vessel is
maintained in accordance with these Rules .
Our periodic class surveys enable you to manage your ship to its
full potential, maintaining operational effectiveness while
minimising risks to life, property and the environment.
Many ships are designed and constructed to comply with our
Rules and it is possible to transfer your vessel to
Lloyd's Register class at any point during its lifetime.
Supporting services
We also offer a number of supporting services, such as
our
Hull Planned Maintenance Scheme (HPMS) and
Machinery Planned Maintenance Scheme (MPMS), which enable you
to align the classification process with your existing maintenance
and inspection programmes, and our environmental protection
service, which provides further help in managing risks to the
environment.
In addition, we issue Classification News which delivers up-to-date
information on issues requiring urgent and immediate dissemination
to the marine industry.
