Lloyd's Register to collaborate with Korea Rail Research
Institute
Lloyd's Register and the Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI)
have signed an agreement to collaborate on rail research,
development and application. The move highlights the commitment of
both parties to strengthen and promote technical co-operation in
the research field of entire railway systems, including high-speed
rail and urban transit systems.
The agreement, signed by Dr. Dahl-Ho Song, President of KRRI,
and David Moorhouse, Executive Chairman of Lloyd's Register, covers
co-operation on a wide range of possible topics:
- risk management including RAMS (reliability, availability,
maintainability and safety)
- system and safety engineering including safety cases
- rolling stock asset life cycle optimisation and management
- railway engineering applications
- system engineering
- railway systems applications
- system assurance.
David Moorhouse said: "We are extremely pleased to have agreed
to collaborate with KRRI and look forward to the benefits it can
bring to the rail sector, in Korea and elsewhere. Combining our
worldwide risk-management and technical expertise with the
Institute's work to develop rail technology, has the potential to
achieve significant advances in technology and practice. The
collaboration will involve exchange of personnel, information,
joint research and joint projects."
