International Association of Ports and Harbors and Lloyd's
Register - Fairplay to publish new 'Ports & Harbors'
TOKYO, LONDON - December 8, 2004 - The International Association of
Ports and Harbors (IAPH) and Lloyd's Register - Fairplay will be
re-launching Ports & Harbors, the official journal of the IAPH
from March 2005.
Under the overall supervision of the IAPH Secretariat, Lloyd's
Register - Fairplay will take over responsibility for editorial,
production and advertising bringing a new dimension to what is
already widely recognised as one of the leading journals of the
port and maritime community.
Ports & Harbors will be published six times each year and
will include all the latest news and information on both the
Association's activities and the international port and maritime
industry.
IAPH President Pieter Struijs, Vice Chairman of the Port of
Rotterdam said: "Next year, IAPH will be celebrating its 50th
anniversary. I am extremely pleased to see our Ports & Harbors
making a new start with powered-up contents on this special
occasion."
IAPH Secretary General Satoshi Inoue, commented "Over the last
50 years, Ports & Harbors has only been the magazine to
exchange views among member ports (authorities) and express
internationally the voice of the world's port comments. I am
confident that the collaboration with Lloyd's Register-Fairplay
will make Ports & Harbors even more informative and valuable to
all in the port community."
Paul Gunton, Managing Editor of Lloyd's Register - Fairplay,
commented: "With our long heritage in maritime publishing and
information services, we make an ideal partner for this established
and respected title. With our dedicated team of journalists and
overseas correspondents, I am sure that we will be able to make the
most of this unique opportunity".
Their Editor in Chief, Tony Slinn, said that the magazine will
continue to be an authoritative publication for IAPH members but
that its scope will be broadened to address all senior port
managers. "I am looking forward to working with the IAPH
secretariat and its members to provide the definitive port
management magazine," he said.

1. International Association of Ports and
Harbors
The International Association of Ports and Harbors (IAPH) was
founded in 1955 to provide a forum for the global port community to
share their common goals. As it marks its 50th anniversary in 2005,
IAPH has around 230 regular members representing ports in 90
countries and economies. They include public port authorities,
private port operators and government agencies. The member ports
account for over 60% of the world's sea-borne trade in terms of
tonnage of cargos they handle and more significantly, nearly 90% of
the world's container traffic.
It is a non-profit-making and non-governmental organization
headquartered in Tokyo, Japan.
IAPH has been given consultative status from such UN agencies as
United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), International
