Lloyd's Register EMEA enters into comprehensive co-operation
agreement with Eletson
Eletson Corporation has signed a comprehensive, consolidated
contract with Lloyd's Register EMEA for the provision of a range of
classification, certification and technical consultancy services
for its entire fleet of 26 double-hull tankers.
The agreement involves classing Eletson's entire fleet of medium
and long range double-hull product tankers, as well as providing
International Safety Management and International Ship and Port
Facility Security Code certification, a fuel advisory and bunker
analysis service (FOBAS) and a ship emergency response service
(SERS).
The co-operation agreement also provides a framework for the
sharing of knowledge relating to market forces, technical design
and operational issues for the mutual benefit of both parties.
Gregory Hadjieleftheriadis, Chairman and CEO of Eletson
Corporation, says: "The agreement reached with Lloyd's Register
EMEA demonstrates our commitment to a long term business
relationship which looks for mutual benefits beyond the consistent
delivery of agreed services under uniform terms and conditions. Our
joint focus on continual improvement in standards of safety,
quality and environmental impact will provide a lead to the
industry in this respect."
Apostolos Poulovassilis, Area Manager for Lloyd's Register
EMEA's East Mediterranean Area, says: "We are delighted to enter
into this agreement. The ongoing relationship with Eletson
Corporation is a further demonstration of our continuing commitment
to the Greek shipping community."
Lloyd's Register EMEA FOBAS provides owners and operators with
confidence in the fuels and lubricants they use in onboard
machinery plant by providing a comprehensive bunker testing service
accompanied by engineering expertise.
SERS is a well recognised service which provides owners and
operators with naval architectural support in the event of a ship
emergency such as a grounding or a collision, helping owners and
salvors to make decisions based on technical understanding of how
ships behave under a given set of conditions. SERS also provides
training and exercises to help owners to test and verify their
emergency response plans. Eletson Corporation has been a dedicated
user of SERS for the past five years and has won the 'SERS Ship
Emergency Exercise Award' - an accolade which recognises a
company's commitment to emergency preparedness - a number of
times.
Alan Gavin, Marine Director of Lloyd's Register, says: "Eletson
Corporation has always been and remains an operator dedicated to
quality and committed to the classification process, in the full
recognition that knowledge-sharing can provide safety and business
benefits for both organisations."
Ends.
