What is the Gas Appliances Directive?
The Gas Appliances Directive (GAD) is important to you if you
design or manufacture domestic or commercial gas appliances which
are put on the market within the European Economic Area.
What does the directive cover?
The Gas Appliances Directive applies to:
- appliances burning gaseous fuels used for cooking, heating, hot
water production, refrigeration, lighting or washing and having, a
normal water temperature not exceeding 105 C
- safety devices, controlling devices or regulating devices and
subassemblies, designed to be incorporated into an appliance
burning gaseous fuel.
If you are designing and manufacturing any of the appliances
listed above, you must comply with this directive.
