Interoperability of the European Railway System Directive
2004/50/EC
What is the Interoperability of the European Railway System
Directive?
The Interoperability of the European Railway System Directive is
important to you if you design or manufacture railway
interoperability constituents and railway sub-systems for use in
the European Economic Area.
What does the directive cover?
The Directive has been created out of these precursor
Directives, following the adoption of the Second Railway
Package:
- Interoperability of the European High-Speed Railway System
(96/48/EC) and
- Interoperability of the European Conventional Railway System
(2001/16/EC)
The Directive covers both railway interoperability constituents
and railway sub-systems. Each element of these is described in a
Technical Standard for Interoperability or TSI.
