What is the Personal Protective Equipment Directive?
The Personal Protective Equipment Directive (PPE) is important
to you if you design or manufacture personal protective equipment
which is covered by the Directive and which is put on the market
within the European Economic Area.
What does the directive cover?
The Personal Protective Equipment Directive applies to any
device or appliance that is designed to be worn or held by an
individual for protection against one or more health hazards.
The following types of equipment are covered by the
Directive:
- Head protection
- Eye and face protection
- Respiratory protection
- Hand and arm protection
- Trunk and abdomen protection
- Whole body protection
- Hearing protection
- Personal protective equipment to protect against a fall from
height
Our services
LRQA has been appointed as notified body for the Personal
Protective Equipment Directive. We are able to provide conformity
assessment services to Article 11B of the Directive (Production
Quality Assurance) for the product groups listed above.
