John Stansfeld

Transportation Director

John is responsible to the CEO for co-ordinating group strategy development, translation, alignment, planning, monitoring and adaptation.

stansfeldJohn is responsible for defining the strategy for our transportation business stream and ensuring the plans for each business centre will deliver the strategic objectives on a global basis. His role is to ensure active worldwide business development and that key customer service management is implemented. He is charged with making sure we have the right service portfolio to enable the business stream to deliver on the objectives of Lloyd's Register.

John is also responsible for the commercial, technical and marketing policies and practices that support the delivery of our transportation strategy.

John joined Lloyd's Register in 1983 in the Machinery Plan Approval Department and then progressed through Advanced Engineering Services and the Chief Engineer Surveyors Department to head up the Safety Technology Group in Croydon in 1990. He became Country Manager for Canada in 1995, then Group Manager for the Americas in 1998, then Director for Asia in 2001, Group Strategy Director in April 2009 and Transportation Director in February 2010. Prior to joining Lloyd's Register John trained with and then worked for NEI WH Allen.

Qualifications

John graduated from Bristol University in 1977 with an Honours degree in Mechanical Engineering and is a Chartered Engineer. He is a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering Science and Technology.

Personal

John is married with four children, enjoys walking, jazz and classical music.
