Working in the shipping business centre of Piraeus, where almost half of the world’s fleet is operated, is a quite demanding and challenging place to serve LR.  Technical expertise and consultancy as well as the high standard regular surveys are required to meet the demands of our well-established traditional owners and operators and to strengthen LR reputation of providing quality services.

The shipping industry expects 24-hour, 360-day availability and continuous improvement. By studying and interpreting rules and regulations in line with the famous LR training programme I believe this can be achieved.

I see myself as being a strong link in the chain of international shipping industry working in a non-profit organisation whose mission is to promote safety at sea and the protection of the marine environment - that is actually something worth being proud of!

I do a lot of travelling, visiting various places and cooperating with surveyors and ship operators of different nationalities; different cultures and ways of thinking. This leads to experiences which broaden your mind but it makes you also realise that underneath the obvious difference, we have the same human needs, worries and feelings.

LR seems to understand this humanitarian aspect of people’s careers, since it rewards the professionals who correspond to its standards. This is being widely considered as success: success of the employees = success of LR.
