We are delighted to offer summer internships for undergraduates in the form of paid summer vacation work. We can offer places for students over one or two summers in their final or penultimate years of study for a four year degree (accredited by the Engineering Council UK) in marine or mechanical engineering, materials engineering, naval architecture, ship science, electrical, control engineering and systems engineering.

One summer could be spent in one of our technical departments in London, working in such areas as:

  • Electrotechnical

  • Ship Structures

  • Statutory Computational

Another summer will potentially provide eight weeks of practical surveying experience, at one of our UK "outport" offices, in the following locations:

  • Southampton

  • Glasgow

  • Liverpool

The summer internship is a structured programme and will include an introduction to Lloyd’s Register, business briefings, projects and feedback on your performance.

As well as your day-to-day role you will be split into teams to work on a project which will be unrelated to your immediate responsibilities. This will give you a wider understanding of the organisation and could see you working with Directors directly.

Our summer internships can provide you with the opportunity to work in a major international organisation with a global reputation. If you can demonstrate the right mix of passion and talent that we look for at Lloyd’s Register, then we will encourage you to go on to apply to our Graduate Training Scheme.
