The programme has more than lived up to my expectations and I get a real sense that Lloyd’s Register want to invest in their people; I also find the support from my mentor really helpful.

"The personal development and practical knowledge I’m gaining has surprised me. I’ve already been involved with everything from surveying existing ships with experienced colleagues to constructing guidelines on oil pollution prevention. There are just as many personal challenges as there are technical ones. One of the most exciting things for me has to be the travel – so far I’ve been based in Scotland, England, Thailand and Germany. I am currently in Korea involved in a variety of newbuilding projects in the third largest shipyard in the world.

"The culture here is really open and there’s a great social life. I also love the fact that, with the focus on safety and keeping technology up to date, I’m helping to look after people at sea. No matter how quickly legislation changes, Lloyd’s Register are always leading the way with solutions to keep lives protected.
