LNG Bunkering Shipowner and Port Survey, Gas Fuelled Readiness Descriptive Note - Jesper Aagesen, Area Consultancy Manager, Scandinavia, Baltic & Western Europe, Lloyd’s Register Marine
In 2012 LR commissioned a study with the aim of understanding how LNG fuelled deep sea shipping may develop. This presentation will update you on the study two years on and will review the challenges for LNG as fuel in deep sea and short sea shipping from both supply and demand perspectives through the results of Lloyd’s Register latest LNG Bunkering shipowner and port survey done in 2014.
We will also present LR’s Gas Fuelled Readiness (GR) descriptive note which was launched in the autumn 2014 in response to industry demand for clarity over options for gas readiness.
Type Approval (Copenhagen, Oslo, Bergen, Gothenburg only) - Joakim Birgander, Nordic Area Marine Management Systems Manager, Lloyd’s Register Marine
Type approval from LR demonstrates that a product conforms to recognised industry quality standards and/or the LR Rules, through a process of independent design review, sample testing and verification of production controls. Get a brief overview of LR’s type approval service and how it can be tailored to product and business needs.
Regulatory Update - Jesper Aagesen
A brief overview of the regulatory landscape with the most important future amendments and changes to the IMO and IACS regulations.
Another drop of ballast water? When to do what – and is there an alternative? -
Martin Schabert, Specialist, Statutory Department, Lloyd’s Register Marine
Does the treatment system work or is it just a license to kill? Why worry? Or why not? The challenges are numerous so we give you the opportunity to get qualified answers to some of your ballast water questions. Hear about:
- Update of the ratification
- Compliance options
- Impact on short-sea shipping
- The USCG rules
Offshore Support Vessels (Bergen only) - Fredrik Thölén, Principal Specialist, Global OSV Market Manager, Lloyd’s Register Marine
Offshore Support Vessel operators are facing many challenges in today’s market. From a segment being heavily regulated to today’s operational market with many drivers in terms of environmental and commercial aspects. This presentation will focus on some of these aspects and how LR can support designers, owners and yards, from the design of the vessel to the construction and finally into the operational phase.
Human Element (Marihamn only) - Niklas Rönnberg, Marine Client Manager, Lloyd’s Register Marine
What do we mean by the “Human Element”? The “Human Element” are the people who design, support, manage, operate and/or maintain our ships. They are also the root cause of 80% of all maritime incidents and are, therefore, an important part of the system. This presentation provides an introduction to human characteristics and limitations. It touches on how these can be managed through user-centred designs and operations to improve operational efficiency and performance. The case studies discussed in this presentation provide clear examples of how to manage the risks of human error in shipping.
