Lloyd’s Register is partnering with IBP in Brazil

Lloyd’s Register is partnering with IBP in Brazil to assess the market view on technology and innovation within the Energy sector.

Organized by IBP, the Oil & Gas Technology Week conference is taking take place at Museu do Amanhã, in Rio de Janeiro, until August 25th, and will present the latest technological innovations around the world, as well as reveal megatrends that will impact the future of the sector.

Antonio Souza from Lloyd’s Register comments: “We are delighted to be working with IBP on this exclusive project. The work we are conducting with IBP builds upon our Technology Radar programme which gives a detailed and unique insight into the global trends around technology and innovation within the Energy sector. Whilst the Brazilian market has experienced challenges over the past two years, we are seeing real shifts in innovation within the sector. Therefore getting a deeper understanding of the opportunities and issues the market is facing is fundamental to how we can help the industry continue to advance and evolve.”

During the conference delegates will be asked a series of questions on their perspective on technology and innovation within the Energy sector in South America. Lloyd’s Register will work with IBP in collating the findings and will publish a management report following the event which will illustrate the trends and views of attendees, highlighting where greater focus is needed for the industry to continue to advance.

At the event, attendees will be able to understand the expectations and trends for the market, which expects an investment of R$ 296 bi until 2019, besides debating public policies and sharing ideas through an innovative and interactive agenda, presenting quality content regarding the following activities: 

  • Trend Talks:  interactive lectures, which will discuss technology issues that are prominent all over the world and how they affect the Oil and Gas industry; 
  • Expo Tech:  an environment to look at the equipment and different approaches that have been revolutionizing the industry; 
  • Start Up Pitch:  a meeting between Start Ups and the main companies in the field aiming to present innovative approaches; 
  • Hackathon to Ideation:  an innovative activity that will gather technology lovers to engage in a collaborative marathon to solve challenges proposed by the industry.
The IBP and Lloyd’s Register survey is running throughout the five (5) days of the event and will address a range of important topics to the sector, such as Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data, Analytics, Nanotechnology, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual Reality, Cyber Security, and Drones. The results of the exclusive survey and key findings will be made available early September.
