Joanna Pohorski to lead Compliance team

Joanna Pohorski - New Senior Vice President - Compliance team - 306x172New key appointment strengthens compliance capability for energy operators.

Joanna Pohorski has been appointed Senior Vice President, Compliance Services, for Lloyd’s Register’s Energy business, reporting directly to the Energy Director John Wishart.

In her new role Pohorski will take a lead on the Compliance team’s strategic direction, expansion and technical operations.

At its core the Compliance team of Lloyd’s Register Energy assesses the design, construction and operation of offshore and onshore oil and gas facilities against engineering principles and a range of codes and standards, making sure that assets are safe and meet performance expectations set by the designer, operator or regulators. Pohorski will lead a global Compliance team of over 400 staff.

”Joanna has great knowledge of how our Compliance business works from her role as Vice President Projects,” said John Wishart. “She also has a great deal of energy and marine-sector knowledge. She is able to play that important role in connecting deep technical reality with commercial opportunity and sales management, thanks to her broad client account management experience within culturally challenging and highly political environments.”

Pohorski initially joined Lloyd’s Register in 2012 as the Programme Manager for the Floating Offshore Installations Team, and a few months later she was appointed to the London-based VP Projects role within the newly created Compliance team. In this role she was responsible for the delivery of a global portfolio of client facing and internal investment projects within Lloyd's Register Energy.

“I’m really happy to be taking on the role of SVP Compliance at this exciting time where our clients’ needs are growing increasingly more complex,” said Pohorski. “Demand for higher performance, improved energy management, and the introduction of new technology and designs is driving change.

“Owners and builders need essential guidance and compliance throughout the design, development and construction phases, as well as in-service. We are focused on helping clients comply with performance and safety criteria to help the industry make good decisions.”

Polish-born and a graduate of Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck, Pohorski has worked in financial and operational business improvement roles, focusing on the development and implementation of management systems driving performance and ownership in leading global energy organisations. She has worked for the international consulting group Hitachi Consulting (previously Celerant Consulting) working on projects with BP in Angola. Pohorski has also worked with some of the energy sector’s major organisations in Continental Europe and the UK, such as ConocoPhillips, BG Group and Nexen.

“We have big plans for the services we provide to industry and for our people. We continue to be held in high regard in the industries we serve for the quality of our technical advice and our independent stance. The challenge now is to extend the range of services we offer to the market and take our brand into new territories.”
