ISO 30000 Certification for Aliaga Ship Recycling

Aliaga Ship Recycling, Turkey

Challenge faced

As a recycler with a commitment to sustainable green ship recycling Aliaga Ship Recycling needed independent, reputable certification in order to differentiate them from the many other facilities whose working practices and standards fail to meet recognised national and international standards.

Why LR was chosen?

LR is an Associate Member of ISRA (the International Ship Recycling Association) and has been actively working on ship recycling projects since the 1990s. We are the International Association of Classification Societies' representative on ship recycling at the International Maritime Organization, invest in sustainable ship recycling projects, working in partnership with shipowners, recycling facilities, universities and government agencies, and were instrumental in the development of ISO 30000.

The issuance of ISO 30000 Certification meant Aliaga Ship Recycling became the first ship recycling company in Turkey to successfully implement the Ship Recycling Management System standard, ensuring their facility stands out from the crowd and providing shipowners with confidence that their ships are being recycled in compliance with the law.

"We would like to thank LRQA and their auditors who have added extra value to our company with their unique Business Assurance approach during their assessments"
