Vijay Tanks & Vessels Ltd is an international engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction company in the energy sector and one of the world’s leading service providers for storage tanks and process equipment. The company contracted Lloyd's Register Energy to act as their preferred ASME Authorised Inspection Agency during the construction of five high-pressure spheres, with the aim of achieving and ASME ‘U’ stamp.
The manufacturer carried out design, pre-fabrication and petal section forming in their facilities at India, with compliance support from us. Two of the spheres were made of 9% nickel steel (15.4m diameter) and three of carbon steel (22.25m, 22.25m and 15.4m diameter). We also attended the site construction in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. The client recognised early on during the project that authorised inspectors with local knowledge at the end user’s location would be able to add value in executing the project successfully.
