Application: Operational nuclear power plant.
Project scope: Long-term co-operation agreement for probabilistic safety assessments (PSAs).
Client: Oskarshamn Power Company (OKG), Sweden.

We have been the main supplier of PSA work to the Oskarshamn Power Company (OKG) since the early 1980s, supporting PSAs for units 1, 2 and 3. This involves all systems, structures and components that may have an impact on plant safety.

The role requires detailed knowledge and mapping of all systems in use, including front-line safety systems, electrical systems (power supply and signals), support systems (cooling systems, primarily) and relevant non-safety systems that may be used as a safety barrier, as well as relevant procedures and human interactions. We also carry out general PSA development to help meet the client’s goal of having assessments that cover every operating mode at all times, including power operation, shut-down, start-up and refuelling outages. In addition, PSA activities support the client’s ongoing modernisation projects.

Service benefits:

  • safe operation
  • a licence to operate
  • power up-rating; increased thermal power and electrical output
