Standards for wind energy

We are closely involved in setting and shaping industry standards and guidelines. Here are the current requirements to be aware of in your industry.

Marine energy

National and international standards are currently under development by us and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) technical committee 114 marine energy – wave, tidal and other water current converters, including the following technical specifications (TS):

We also make use of The European Marine Energy Centre's (EMEC) guidelines and standards. We played a key role in developing several of these standards and wrote the basis of EMEC's design guidelines:

Wind energy

Standards are developed under IEC technical committee TC 88. Some of the most relevant ones are shown in the table below. There are also standards covering such aspects as acoustic noise measurements; communications for monitoring and control; measurements of mechanical loads; and testing of blades.
