The four races comprising GB Trials were held over two weekends with a two week gap in between. In the previous few years the trials have been run over three consecutive days, so it felt like it took a long time this year and I'm glad to have it over and done with. Even though it should be a formality for me to make the team, in canoe slalom nothing is a given and with such small margin for error, you need to perform well at the races.

When my coach and I planned our warm-weather training in the United Arab Emirates, we had thought that getting back on the 10th of March would have meant the weather would be ok by then. How very wrong we were! Despite my post-Olympic break and two weeks in the warmth of the U.A.E., it has still been a really tough winter of training in brutal conditions.
