After reaching the semi-finals of the men’s C1 slalom at the London 2012 Olympic Games, David Florence missed out on a position in the final by 0.22 of a second. After a strong and promising start, being nearly a full second in front of the 2012’s silver medallist, Sideris Tasiadis, by the first interval, it looked to be a direct path to the final.

Sadly, it was not to be, as David lost balance on the eddy coming into gate 18 and clipped the far post, adding a two-second penalty to his overall time of 104.16. This was not enough and David finished in 10th place overall.

Although now out of the individual category, David still has a shot at gold with the men’s C2 final taking place on August 2nd in which David and Richard Hounslow have both shown a strong competitive edge in previous competitions this year.
