Rotterdam Design Support Office is a major plan appraisal centre forming part of that vision. Here designs for various ship types such as Yachts, Cargo Ships, Inland Waterway Ships, Dredgers, and Pipe-laying Ships, as well as marine equipment and components are appraised providing a tremendous diversity of work for projects worldwide. Our objective is to provide our clients with the best possible service and hence we cover as many disciplines as possible in this office.

(Senior) Surveyor Machinery Design Appraisal

Job Overview

You will perform the design appraisal of plans and reports for marine equipment and components (e.g. thrusters, winches and gearboxes) and piping systems for new build- and existing ships.

Job Responsibilities

You will have the responsibility to appraise detail plans and piping schemes submitted for approval in accordance with appropriate Lloyd’s Register Rules & Regulations and Statutory Regulations like the SOLAS and MARPOL conventions. You are expected to build and maintain a good relationship with our clients.

 Job Requirements

  • Good communication skills, fluent in English and preferably also in Dutch;

  • BSc or MSc in Marine engineering, Mechanical engineering or similar;

  • Experience with detail designs and strength calculations for machine components;

  • Knowledge of shaft vibration calculations is advantageous;

  • Work experience of several years in the maritime- or machine building industry;

  • Able to work in a team as well as independently.
