Asset Information
Railways do not have limitless budgets. So, they often have to prioritise maintenance and renewals. This requires an accurate understanding of the condition of the assets. Equally, wear and tear encountered from day to day operation can, if left unchecked, rapidly escalate the cost of rectification and even compromise safety. So, innocuous bodyshell damage can eventually lead to severe corrosion, whilst localised wheel defects can eventually cause significant track damage. We have developed a range of services centred upon the idea of capturing your raw data and turning it into information that you can use to make effective decisions regarding the management of your assets.

Cost reduction
In recent years less emphasis was placed on the cost of running the railway as passenger numbers and freight volumes increased, new railways were built and legislation, from interoperability to safety, refocused attention elsewhere. However, recent global events have served to reduce the supply of finance and reverse the long term trends in passenger and freight growth. We have a range of railway performance improvement services whose costs are designed to be a fraction of the savings they generate.

ERTMS
ERTMS is a cornerstone of the European drive for a truly interoperable railway. It is perhaps the most sophisticated train control system currently available and is being adopted by other countries besides those in the European Union (EU). We are at the leading edge of ERTMS roll-out in Europe.

Interoperability
Since the late 1990s several European Commission (EC) Directives have been enacted by all EU Member States that govern the technology and methods of operation to be used by Europe’s railways to enable the freedom of movement of goods and people, known as Interoperability. The Directives apply to new, upgraded or renewed railways and also to components that are key to freedom of movement, such as wheels and rails, and which are known as Interoperability Constituents. We are perhaps uniquely placed to assist you in adhering to Interoperability and national approvals regimes.
