Asset Information

Railways do not have limitless budgets. So, they often have to prioritise maintenance and renewals. This requires an accurate understanding of the condition of the assets. Equally, wear and tear encountered from day to day operation can, if left unchecked, rapidly escalate the cost of rectification and even compromise safety. So, innocuous bodyshell damage can eventually lead to severe corrosion, whilst localised wheel defects can eventually cause significant track damage. We have developed a range of services centred upon the idea of capturing your raw data and turning it into information that you can use to make effective decisions regarding the management of your assets.

As railways become more complex and greater pressure is applied on capital and operating expenditure, the effective capture, storage and interpretation of information related to the status of assets becomes increasingly important.

Our range of asset evaluation tools and databases are often used in conjunction with our auditing teams to capture contemporary information on asset condition.  We then apply our experience to interpretation of the data in order to give our clients timely repair, maintenance and renewals information.

We have also developed world-leading asset condition monitoring products, such as the GOTCHA wheel-rail measurement systems.  Not only is this arguably the least intrusive system presently on the market, but our underlying data management regime enables our clients to rectify wheel damage before it escalates to something more serious.  In fact, we can demonstrate that the cost of the system is a small fraction of the savings achieved in vehicle and infrastructure maintenance.

Asset Management
