Independent safety assessment (ISA)
Independent safety assessment involves making a judgement against a set of requirements about the safety adequacy of a product, system or process in a particular context and environment. Major project assurance
Governments and other stakeholders often wish to gain assurance that a large and complex system, like a new railway, meets appropriate requirements for issues such as safety, RAM, operability and performance. As well as Independent Safety Assessment (ISA) and statutory certification activities, there is a need for one body to take an overview of the whole system.
