Schemes
We operate utility accreditation schemes, on behalf of the utility industry and their regulators, to independently assess service providers seeking to perform scopes of work within the contestable connections markets in the electricity, gas, and water sectors.
We have facilitated the liberalisation of the gas, water and electricity connections markets through the provision of utility accreditation schemes. When work is performed by Lloyd’s Register accredited contractors, utilities can be assured that connections will prove to be assets rather than liabilities.
We operate utility accreditation schemes, on behalf of the utility industry and their regulators, to independently assess service providers seeking to perform scopes of work within the contestable connections markets in the electricity, gas, and water sectors.
Each scheme is tailored to address the risks to which each of the respective utility sectors may be exposed. The assessment criteria for each scheme enable service providers to be recognised as technically competent to perform the accredited scopes of work. Scopes may range from design and project management to 132kV overhead line work, to a 7barg complex gas main connection, to the construction of water mains and services.
These schemes are currently operated in the UK, but can be applied to any utility operation where the utility is seeking independent evaluation of competence, whether in relation to its own staff or that of its contractors.
