We operate the Water Industry Registration Scheme (WIRS) on behalf of Water UK and the water utilities. Under the scheme we perform technical assessment of the service providers who elect to be assessed for accreditation for contestable works associated with the installation of water infrastructure.

The scheme represents part of an ongoing process to facilitate multi-lay for service providers.

Under the scheme we perform technical assessment of the service providers who elect to be assessed for accreditation for contestable works associated with the installation of water infrastructure. The scopes of registration are as follows:

  • design

  • project management

  • construction, commissioning and connections Full, Site & Services (see guidance notes)

What are the benefits?

Accreditation under the scheme will provide the service provider with the following benefits:

  • accreditation recognised by all water utilities and Water UK

  • independent assessment and registration process

  • assignment of an accreditation mark which will represent the achievement of a high technical, quality and safety standard

  • listing on our page of registered service providers.
