Overview
When relating to drilling operations, a geohazard can be classed as a geological event that may lead to damage or risk. Types of Geohazards include man-made hazards (such as shipwrecks and debris from O&G operations), seafloor hazards (such as fault scarps and unstable slopes) and subsurface hazards such as faults, gas charged sediments and buried channels. Geohazards cannot be prevented, but most can be avoided through a detailed assessment and understanding of the risks. Where a geohazard can’t be avoided, mitigation must take place to reduce the risk to ALARP levels.
What we offer
We offer a comprehensive yet simple step-by-step assessment of drilling geohazards to enable your project team to understand the risks and how they affect your drilling operation. We typically utilise a 3 phase approach: 1. Critical appraisal of existing 3D seismic and other datasets to ensure acceptability for hazard identification; 2. Regional appraisal of geohazards through data integration and advanced interpretation techniques;; 3. Well location specific appraisal of geohazards and risks. Our geohazard assessment will ensure understanding of drilling risks and provide relevant advice on how these risks can be avoided or mitigated against to ultimately reduce the risk to your drilling campaign.
What are the benefits?
