Simon’s role focusses on linking new technology to clients’ needs through commercial ventures and partnerships with clients and partner organisations across all businesses and sectors. This includes the output of research funded by Lloyd’s Register Foundation, maximising impact through commercial as well as social returns.
Simon brings a background of 29 years of international business experience to his role, predominantly in the energy sector; in power generation, thermal, nuclear and renewables, and more recently in oil & gas and marine sectors. Prior to joining Lloyd’s Register in 2010, he held senior roles in manufacturing management, project management of international supply chains, construction & commissioning of large power plant projects, and a succession of global functional responsibilities including quality, health & safety and research & development.
Simon is a Fellow of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers, holds a Masters’ degree in Applied Energy and a Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering. His strategic roles include being an advisory member of the Lloyd’s Register Foundation Grants committee, a founder board member and co-chair of Fullagar Technologies Ltd, Chair of the Independent Steering Committee of ORCA hub, and a board trustee of the Youth Hostels Association.
