About the event
The 7th Motorship Gas Fuelled Ships Conference will offer a technical perspective on the innovation and investment driving the uptake of LNG, methanol and other low-flashpoint fuels in the commercial shipping sector. With a focus on knowledge sharing from a variety of projects, the conference will examine the latest advances in vessel design and operation, propulsion, supply infrastructure and associated technology.
Paul Davies (pictured right), LR's Technical Manager, Risk Assessment, LNG & Alternative Fuels, will be speaking at the conference, presenting a paper titled: 'Bunkering LNG: Setting the Safety Zone', abstract below:
A safety zone is required during bunkering of LNG. The purpose of the zone is to set an area that is active during bunkering and within which only essential personnel are allowed and potential ignition sources are controlled. This further minimises the low likelihood of a LNG/NG release and its possible ignition, and helps protect individuals and property via physical separation should a release occur. This paper discusses the setting of the zone, parameters that influence its extent, and results from recent modelling undertaken by LR.
