Established in 2000, Red Tractor is an assurance body operated by Assured Food Standards (AFS). Their label acts as an easy indication of quality for consumers, representing thorough standards in food processing. Their Meat & Poultry Processing scheme is primarily aimed at setting a standard across all processing plants throughout the red meat industry.
What are the benefits?
Assessment provides a single standard that is suitable for single and multi-species plants. It is applicable to the handling and processing of cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, chicken, poussin and turkey. The audit covers animal welfare, food safety, traceability, the slaughter of assured livestock, plus specifics in the slicing and handling of sausages, cooked meats and more.
Upon successful completion of the Red Tractor Meat & Poultry Processing audit, members may benefit from proven traceability on their products. This assures complete provenance of products for trade and consumers, responding to a growing market demand.
Media & marketing
Red Tractor members are supported by media and marketing campaigns to raise the profile of assured meat, increasing awareness and consumer interest.
