James Pomeroy is the Group HSES Director for Lloyd's Register and is responsible for advocating and delivering high standards, thought leadership and best practice in health, safety, environmental and security management across LR’s global operations. With 25 years of experience, James has extensive experience in designing and implementing successful behaviour change within organisations and embracing a positive approach. He has considerable experience in enhancing human performance and safety culture through behavioural intervention. He is known for his insights into strategic directions that improve effectiveness and outcomes. People and culture change has been a consistent theme in James’ career.
An engineer by training, James has been involved in leading and transforming global HSES programmes in a variety of sectors, including upstream oil and gas, aviation, mining and heavy manufacturing. James holds an MSc in HSE management, an LLM in international environmental law and a MBA in sustainable business.
Paul Wright is the Group Health & Safety Director for Biffa. He has worked in health, safety and environmental management for over 20 years and has held numerous senior health and safety roles. Paul has worked in global engineering and environmental services organisations. He has also worked on mega projects including the London 2012 Olympic Park and Venues and the Hinkley Point C New Nuclear Power Station. He is a passionate enthusiast for attaining excellence in leadership, risk management, and workforce engagement.
Cynthia Vodopivec is the VP of Environmental, Health & Safety at Vistra Energy and she is responsible for strategic planning, compliance assurance and environmental and safety program implementation for the 41,000 MW generation fleet and for safety program implementation for the corporate and retail functions. Cynthia has responsibility for tracking and improving the environmental performance of the sites and providing programs and tools to keep employees and contractors safe.
Cynthia had similar leadership roles at Dynegy, EquiPower Resources Corp, GDF Suez North America, and FirstLight Power, working with a wide range of power plant technologies across the country. Before joining the energy sector, she was a Project Manager at Environmental Resources Management, a global environmental consulting firm and focused on environmental and safety compliance for industrial, chemical and energy companies.
She has received a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from Dartmouth College, a Bachelor of Engineering in Environmental Engineering from the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College and a Masters of Business Administration from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
After a short service commission in the Royal Corps of Signals, Duncan Spencer spent time as a Director of an Outdoor Adventure Centre and a College Lecturer before forging his career in safety. He spent 8 years as a safety and risk consultant working with national and international organisations. His work has covered many sectors, retail, logistics and warehousing, agriculture, food manufacturing, engineering, government agencies and uniformed public services. He led the safety team in the John Lewis Partnership for 10 years before becoming the Head of Advice & Practice at IOSH. This department is responsible for thought leadership and includes commissioning research and writing guidance for members.
Tim Eldridge is a Chartered Member of IOSH with over 25 years’ experience in health and safety, working in the UK, Middle East and Australia.
Tim is currently the Global Head of Health and Safety for HSBC bank, leading an international team of health and safety professionals looking after 230,000 employees in 80 countries. Tim also has significant experience with health and safety regulators, as an Inspector for the HSE; and also with the OHS regulators in South Australia and Queensland.
Most recently, Tim has been Chair of IOSH’s Networks Committee - supporting branches, groups, districts and sections in delivering high quality events and services to members, aligned with IOSH’s Work 2022 strategy. He has been a member of Council since 2016.
Tim has an active interest in the wellbeing agenda, particularly around how employers can enhance employee wellbeing (and productivity) through the physical design of the workplace and nutrition and fitness programmes.
