The Foundation Food Safety System Certification 22000 Version 5, a GFSI recognised food management system, was released on 3 June 2019 with audits due to start between 1 January and 31 December 2020.
Lloyd’s Register (LR) works with over 35,000 clients within the food and beverage sector and recognises that with the increasing globalisation and complexity of supply chains, having the right food safety systems in place - verified by a reputable body with a global footprint is critical. Accredited systems, such as FSSC 22000, can help protect businesses brand reputation as well as their customers.
The development of Version 5 takes into consideration the release of the new ISO 22000 incorporating a continuous improvement approach into the framework. It provides an opportunity for organizations to enable the integration of their food safety management system with other management systems
The FSSC, which has over 19,000 certificates worldwide, developed Version 5 with representatives from Certification Bodies, Accreditation Bodies, Training Organizations and representatives from the food industry. Another big addition to the scheme involves FSSC 22000 licensed Training Organisations, which aims to provide improved transparent requirements.
Currently, the scheme is published in English, but other translated versions shall be available later in the year in September.
