The United States’ ICCA representative, the American Chemistry Council (ACC), requires member companies and partners to achieve independent certification of their Responsible Care Management System for continued ACC membership. There are two certification options which can be pursued: RCMS and RC14001.
The Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) specification establishes a set of management system principles and requirements to consolidate and enhance implementation of the Guiding Principles and Codes of Management Practice. Like RC14001, RCMS follows the Plan-Do-Check-Act management system model,
In addition, RCMS offers:
- optional periodic surveillance;
- flexibility in site visit selection and specifying how requirements in
certain areas are met; and
- structure and terminology familiar to ACC members
