The Lloyd's Register Safety Accelerator is delighted to announce the latest batch of successful startups, chosen to tackle safety and risk challenges set in collaboration with Challenge Partners Lloyd's Register, PepsiCo, Phillips 66, and DCP Midstream.
Successful startups were selected for their innovative technology solutions, which enable fresh ways of sensing, identifying, understanding and managing a variety of important safety risks, from human factors to operational issues. The winners will benefit from trial funding and invaluable collaboration with industry-leading corporate challenge partners, opening up new markets.
How does this selection process work?
- Safety challenges set collaboratively by corporate 'Challenge Partners' and the Lloyd's Register Safety Accelerator
- Plug and Play Tech Center source applicable startups to tackle these challenges, via their innovative global tech community, with three-five finalists shortlisted
- Finalists live-pitch their solutions at Safety Accelerator 'Innovation Days', judged by Challenge Partners and industry experts from LR, LRF, and Plug and Play Tech Center
- Winning startups go on to trial their solutions for three months with Challenge Partners
Challenge 1: Revolutionary listeria detection
Partner: PepsiCo
Finalists: ProteoSense, ProbiusDx, Conelum and SnapDNA
Winning startup: SnapDNA is an industry-compliant, enrichment-free, molecular-based, pathogen analysis platform for food safety. SnapDNA’s platform works with industry established sample sizes, detects live cells only, and provides quantitative results with near-zero false positive accuracy. The system provides 20-minute, sample-to-answer results for Listeria, Salmonella, and E. coli.
Challenge 2: Digital plastic pipeline detection
Partner: DCP Midstream
Finalists: Stolar, WaveSense, vGIS
Winning startup: Stolar Global Imaging (SGI) is a Geophysical Services and Instrumentation Company. SGI specializes in a unique and proprietary suite of “Radio-Geophysics” instruments for underground and borehole radiowave mapping. SGI provides geologic and geophysical imaging consultancy for the construction, mining, environmental engineering, and energy-related industries. Their experience and dedication in geophysical problem-solving has increased operational efficiency, reduced geologic risk associated with production, increased worker health and safety, and contributed to environmentally-responsible resource recovery.

Challenge 4: Data-driven compliance and assurance for safety-critical industries
Partner: Lloyd's Register
Finalists: Ai XPRT, APIAX, Ascent Technologies and RequirementOne
Winning startup: Ai XPRT provides Artificial Intelligence (AI) Solution to automate regulatory compliance assurance and financial audit.
