The Lloyd's Register Safety Accelerator is proud to be collaborating with Challenge Partners Benugo, Euroports, Hutchison ports, Sellafield Ltd. and National Nuclear Laboratory, for our sixth round of safety and risk Innovation Challenges.
Risk detection across safety-critical industries, from marine, to energy, to food, is paramount to ensuring human safety, as well as the security and integrity of the asset and the environment. The emergence of new and innovative technologies has improved how we manage a variety of these safety risks, whether it's human safety or operational risks.
The Lloyd’s Register Safety Accelerator is actively seeking digital startup solutions to solve five new safety and risk challenges, to further improve safety of life and assets across critical infrastructure industries. Successful applicants will not only benefit from trial funding, but also the opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading corporate Challenge Partners, to accelerate development of their technologies and open up new markets.
Successful applicants will be awarded the opportunity to trial their proposed solution with the industry Challenge Partner for approximately three months, in a live industry environment, as well as expert guidance and collaboration from LR experts throughout.
Challenge 1: Digital solutions for safe working in confined spaces, specifically port-based crane legs

Challenge 2: Digital solutions to prevent accidental entry to potentially dangerous confined spaces
Challenge 3: Innovative industrial inspection technologies
Challenge 4: Revolutionary allergen detection and communication in restaurants
Challenge 5: Advanced analytics of maintenance, inspection & failure records of critical assets

The Safety Accelerator is run in partnership with Plug and Play Tech Centre, the largest global innovation platform and most active venture capital fund in Silicon Valley. Plug and Play are currently sourcing innovative safetytech solutions from their network of ground-breaking global startups, to solve these important safety and risk challenges.
Successful Round 6 startups, who will go on to pilot their solutions with Hutchison Ports, Euroports, Sellafield Ltd. and National Nuclear Laboratory, and Lloyd's Register, are expected to be announced in February 2020.
